Opportunities to Serve

One of the best ways to connect, fellowship and build relationships with people is to serve alongside them. Below, you’ll find a list of opportunities to get involved in serving people within the community and the church.

Hospitality
Show the love of Christ through hospitality. Several opportunities to serve in the hospitality ministry: Greeters, Welcome Desk, Parking Lot, Ushers, etc.) You can serve on a consistent or rotational basis.

CB Kids *
Make a difference in the life of a child (infant through 5th grade). Our kids ministry is looking for leaders and assistants who are committed to sharing the love of Christ in a group setting. You can volunteer on a regular or rotational basis.
Wednesday nights:
- Check-in and Check-out volunteer for grades 1-5 (6pm to 6:30pm and 7:30 pm to 8:00pm) someone to greet families and check in kids using kiosk (new families – using computer) and Check out kids when parents arrive.
- Check-in volunteer for infant – K5 (6pm to 6:30pm) someone to greet families and check in kids using kiosk (new families – using computer).
- CB kids Greeter for grades 1-5 (6pm – 6:45pm) someone to be present in the Worship Room as kids arrive to greet them and engage them before Music begins at 6:15 and then stay and help during music time.
- CB kids music leader for grades 1-5 (6pm-6:45pm) someone to lead music with the kids.
- Leader and Assistant for 2 & 3 year olds. Lead Bible lesson and activities reinforcing the Bible story. (2 volunteers)
- Leader and Assistant for 4 & 5 year old group. Lead Bible lesson and activities reinforcing the Bible story. (2 volunteers)
- Assistant for 1st grade (6pm-8:00pm) someone to assist Leader and occasionally teach
Sunday mornings:
First Hour
- Program Director for grades 1-5 (arrive 15 minutes before kids) someone to oversee the program during the first hour. Ensure all volunteer areas are covered and assist volunteers with any needs or supplies, troubleshoot, maintain the safety of the kids and volunteers in the hallway, take care of any facility issues.
- Check-in and Check-out volunteer for grades 1-5 (arrive 15 minutes before kids) someone to greet families and check in kids using kiosk (new families – using computer) and check out kids when parents arrive
- Check-in volunteer for infant – K5 (arrive 15 minutes before kids) someone to greet families and check in kids using kiosk (new families – using computer).
- Worship Leader for grades 1-5 (arrive 15 minutes before kids) someone to lead worship with the kids.
- Musician for grades 1-5 (arrive 15 minutes before kids) someone to play guitar or key board to accompany worship leader.
- Leader / Caregivers for infants – play with, rock, comfort infants. Feed or give bottle per parent’s instructions. Change diapers. (2-3 volunteers)
- Leader and Assistants for toddlers/1 year olds. Teach short Bible story, play with, comfort children. Change diapers. (2 volunteers)
- Leader and Assistants for 2 years olds, 3 year olds, 4 year olds, 5 year olds. Teach Bible lesson and lead activities reinforcing Bible story. (8 volunteers)
- 4 Small group leaders for grades 1-5 (arrive 15 minutes before kids) volunteers to lead multi-grade groups in discussions and/or games.
Second Hour

CB Students Ministry *
Be a part of our vibrant, active Student Ministry (grades 6-12) as a Group Leader or Volunteer.

CB Worship Team
Do you have a special interest, talent, or gift for technology or music? The worship team is currently seeking volunteers and talented musicians and vocalists to serve in the following areas: Praise Band, and Worship Choir. (A brief interview / audition may be necessary to join the Praise Band.) The tech team is made up of individuals who enjoy serving “behind the scenes”. There are opportunities for: Camera operators, Live Stream and Social Media tech / producer, Screen operations, and Sound technology. All it takes to join the CB Worship Team, in any capacity, is a servant’s heart and a willingness to learn.

Special Event Volunteers *
If you would like to volunteer in any capacity for short term events such as: CORE sports, CORE arts, and CORE crafts, VBS, Fall Festival, Music Camp, etc., we want to hear from you.

Prayer Team
Prayer is an essential part of the Christian life. If you would like to join our Prayer Team to pray for the needs of others and our church community and also receive a weekly prayer list via e-mail, click the “Serve” button.
Special Needs Ministry *
Buddy Ministry
The Buddy Ministry is seeking loving and willing volunteers to “buddy-up” and minister to an individual with special needs during church activities, events and services. Training is provided and there are many different ways to serve.
You can choose the time slot(s) below, that best fit(s) your schedule.
When

Hospice Volunteer *
Volunteers are needed to visit and offer socialization and companionship to Hospice patients in the Charleston, Summerville and surrounding areas.
Transportation *
Volunteers are needed to provide transportation for members and non-members who are homebound or live in assisted-living facilities to church activities, events, programs and/or services. Interested in volunteering?
* To provide a safe and nurturing environment, Charleston Baptist Church conducts background screening for volunteers as part of the approval process for certain church activities, events and programs.
