What to Expect

As you walk into Charleston Baptist Church, you’ll notice casual and comfortable dress, vibrant worship led by our talented praise band or sanctuary choir, applicable and relevant teaching from the Bible, and many opportunities to meet people.

God’s desire is not only that you connect with Him on a deeper level, but that you also make connections with other believers.

Sunday Services

Charleston Baptist Church has two Sunday morning services. A more contemporary service with our praise team is held at 9:30 am. The more traditional service is held at 11:00 am. Bible study classes are held during both services, so those attending service at 9:30 am can attend classes at 11:00 am. Those attending the 11:00 am service, may attend classes at 9:30 am.

Both Sunday morning services offer a full children’s program, from birth through 5th grade. Most of the youth typically attend the 9:30 am service and then attend bible study at 11:00 am. The youth meet together in the youth room located above the sanctuary foyer area accessed from the stairs located across from the Welcome Desk in the sanctuary foyer.

On Sunday evenings, services are held at 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Several times during the year, Sunday evening services may not be held for special events, community group gatherings, etc. Those times will be posted on the church website calendar of events.

Mid-week Service

The mid-week service is designed to be an informal gathering of those who want a more personal approach to spiritual growth. It is a time for praise and prayer for specific needs and to bring before the Lord those burdens and cares that press upon us. The praise and prayer time is usually held in the main sanctuary from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm with a bible study from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

During the praise and prayer time, we divide into smaller groups of 3-10 people and share any praise or prayer requests. By using smaller groups, it gives us the opportunity to learn more about each other and to provide a less intimidating environment.

After some time of sharing, we have a time of prayer where each person may pray if they want. If you don’t want to pray, that’s okay. There is no pressure to pray. There may be times where you just don’t even no where to start praying. That’s okay, too.

After everyone has been given the opportunity to pray, a member of the congregation will usually lead all the groups in a final prayer at the conclusion of the praise and prayer time.

A nursery is available for children aged birth to age 2, while children aged 3 to K5. Depending on the time of year, preschoolers attend preschool classes or Awana Club’s Scripture Memory Program.

Children from K5  to 5th grade are also invited to attend our Awana Club’s program beginning at 6:15 pm and ending at 7:45 pm.

Youth have a time of fun and fellowship and meet in the Youth Room from 6:15 pm and to about 7:45 pm.
