Sermon Series: “Finding Joy”
Philippians 2:5-11
Philippians 2:5-11 [5] Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, [6] who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, [7] but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. [9] Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, [10] so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Albert Einstein Quote – “I am a Jew, but I am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene.”
- Napoleon Quote – “I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison…Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne and myself founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon sheer force. Jesus Christ alone founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men will die for Him.”
- HG Wells – “I am a historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history.”
- Fyodor Dostoevsky, Russian Novelist (1800s) – “I believe there is no one deeper, lovelier, more sympathetic and more perfect than Jesus – not only is there no one else like Him, there never could be anyone like Him.”
- Elvis Presley – “No honey, I’m not the King. Jesus Christ is the King I’m just an entertainer… There is only one King, Jesus Christ. I’m just a singer.”
