1 Peter 5:2a shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight…
Titus 1:6a if anyone is above reproach…
Titus 1:7b …must be above reproach.
Titus 1:12 One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”
Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
1 Timothy 3:1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.
· Character in his FAMILY.
Titus 1:6b …the husband of one wife…
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Titus 1:6c …and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.
1 Timothy 3:4-5 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?
· Character in his CONDUCT.
Titus 1:7a For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach.
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
Titus 1:7b He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,
James 1:19-20 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Ephesians 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Titus 1:8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.
Romans 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Titus 1:9a He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught…
Titus 1:9b …so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine…
Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ
Titus 1:9c …and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
Acts 20:28-31 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.
Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
3 John 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
